The Undertones
This blog is dedicated to opening the world's mind to new kinds of music. I believe that music is a dying art, and that its true masters, like all art forms, are being forgotten and driven to the shadows and left to be found only when sought out.

"The Undertones" is a project to bring those forgotten and nameless into the light and to bring some cognizance to the genres and cultures that define the vastness of the universe of music. This is a manifesto to the fans of Skrillex, Katy Perry, and Lil Wayne. You've been called out.

Every week I will post a new genre or general category of music, and it will almost always be esoteric and obscure. And if it happens to be a common genre, it will most certainly not be a renowned band or artist.

Genre, band/artist, and song suggestions are greatly encouraged! It gets tough sometimes to think of what to post some days/weeks. Drop me a note, and if I use your material, you'll get a link to your page in my post!

If you enjoy the music, likes are appreciated, but reblogs are highly encouraged! Follow me along to discover music you probably never knew existed!

Hiatus

As you may have noticed, the past few weeks have been missing some days in their material. I really do hate to upset the balance, because I think of all of you (my extremely appreciated followers. Seriously — I love you guys) and hate to let you down when I don’t deliver.
This blog is really the one thing I’ve been able to upkeep and continue working on every day since starting, and seeing it grow in following almost every day is the most powerful urge to keep it going.
However, times are a little rough for me right now, and it’s hard to keep the ‘Tones on the forefront of my mind anymore. I’ve done so many genres already, (trying to space them apart so as not to put too much similarity together) it’s hard to think of new things to do every week, and I really don’t want it to become a chore. I love this blog.
So for now, I’m going to take some time off, try to get through this knot in my life, and in the meantime, try to think up a good playlist for when I come back. The Undertones isn’t dead. Just needs a nap.
I sincerely thank each and every one of you, my gracious followers, for your interest, time, and patience.
~T.U.

It’s the best combination of class and modernism. I have to admit I kind of almost had a heart attack when Hooverphonic played 2Wicky, because I’m completely 200% gay for that song (hipster alert: and no, NOT because of the Fiat commercial >:C )

Hey, do you have any plans this week? I know how you’re a closet weeaboo and all (you can’t hide from me — I saw your hentai) and I found an awesome deal on a flight. I was wondering if I could drag you alo-HEY, whoa there! Massive space invasion! Unwarrented hugging! I implore you to cease and desist! I’ll take that as a yes — now please stop trying to meld our atomic structures @_@

Definitely what the soul needed. Even if you’re in a tiny underground room surrounded by Level 5 Super Saiyan hipsters, it’s nice to go to a jazz lounge once in a while. You have to admit, that was some of the best damn coffee you’ve ever had. Pretty sure it’s brewed from the blood of children who listen to Top 40.
Well, now that we’re out here where all the cool people go, there are tons of live music clubs all over. Seems the popular thing, at least here lately is electronic rock, which is totally cool though, in my opinion. It’s like they wanted to be an electronic band, but someone wanted to sing, then they said fuck it and combined them. Kinda sick.
Come, Patsy!
